An index locates a document. To establish a relationship retrieve the record or image and check what the index omitted.
The method, step by step
- Copy collection title, municipality, covered dates and result identifier. Distinguish entry number, page and image number.
- Open the correct volume, indexes and adjacent pages. Without a direct link search the repository catalogue by place, event and year.
- Compare name, parents, spouse, age and residence. Preserve the index reading beside the record transcription when they differ.
- Cite index and record separately. If the original remains inaccessible state this limit and how to request it.
